Meet the team that established NMR 

 

These are the original leaders of NMR that are still out in their communities doing good! 

Parisa Jahangirizadeh

Parisa is the founder and president of NMR. Her motivation was to create something bigger than just a small group of people that would hopefully motivate others to get involved in their communities. Parisa is a senior at Turlock High School where she is a member of the tennis team, mock trial and president of the medicareers club. She will be attending a University of California in the fall, majoring in biological sciences. She hopes to go to medical school to become a surgeon. 

Courtnie Chan

Courtnie Chan is the events coordinator and co-founder of NMR. Courtnie is a recent Turlock High graduate where she was voted 'most likely to succeed'. Now, she is studying operations research at UC Berkley. Courtnie is employed through her university and also an active new member in Berkley's chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta- a panhellenic sorority. Courtnie is also the leading coordinative volunteer of the CHEF health initiative. 

Melissa Mendez

Melissa is a co-founder of NMR and the main force behind the "Reading Night" program. Melissa is attending Turlock high where she is valedictorian for her class. Apart from excelling in her classes, Melissa finds time to be a cheerleader and member of drama and math club. She will be attending both Harvard and Stanford to obtain a degree in neuroscience. She loves school treats every barrier like a challenge. Melissa speaks two languages and is even now tackling American Sign Language. In her free time, she is very involved in performing arts both at inside school and out at community conservatories. She loves to sing and acts as cantor at All Saints Catholic university parish.  Melissa is always willing to donate her time and contribute her energy and ideas to the organization.

Ashtyn Nichols

Ashtyn is Vice President and Co-founder of NMR. She is currently a student at San Diego State University. She is majoring in Public Health and minoring in Social Work. Ashtyn is a member of SDSU's speech and debate team and a member of the Public Health Initiative club and the women's fraternity Alpha Gamma Delta. Ashtyn is working as a teacher for afterschool programs around San Diego County.

Carlos Iniguez

 Carlos is a co-founder and in charge of public relations for NMR. He is a student at Santa Barbra City College. He is studying computer science in the hopes of increasing the nation's cyber security one day. He also has a passion for learning about other cultures and at the moment he is studying English, Spanish, and Japanese. He also participates in a variety of multicultural music festivals in an effort to learn about these different cocultures. Additionally, Carlos is highly active in politics, both nationally and locally. In the previous Turlock Elections Carlos was an intern for candidate Gary Soiseth, where he volunteered numerous times throughout the campaign. 

Eve Stark

Eve is one of the co-founders of NMR and is a high-achieving senior at Turlock High School. Not only is she involved with many clubs and sports, but she is an active member of her community: supporting and attending many local events and encouraging others to do the same. Eve runs cross country on Turlock's very competitive team and is an athlete on the swim team. She is an active participant in Relay for Life and Key Club where she is a leader. Eve practices photography and lives an active lifestyle. She will be attending college in the fall.
